IPPF Qualifying Round Prep

Eight-session team course preparing students to enter the International Public Policy Forum (IPPF), the written policy debate contest run by the Brewer Foundation and New York University. Starts September 14; registration closes September 12.

About this course

The International Public Policy Forum is the world’s leading written debate competition for high school students: teams of 3-6 submit a 3,000-word qualifying essay, the top 64 advance through a written single-elimination bracket, and the final eight fly to New York to debate at NYU School of Law for the $10,000 grand prize and the Brewer Cup. This eight-session course takes an Atlantic Ivy team from a standing start to a submitted qualifying essay on the 2026-27 resolution - Resolved: The United Nations should prioritize protecting the rights of women and girls over respecting state sovereignty. The class meets twice a week for two hours from September 14, at times set with the enrolled families, and finishes before the October 13 submission deadline. Your class is your team: Atlantic Ivy registers it with the IPPF, pays the team entry fee, and provides the named coach. Students write every word of the essay themselves - IPPF rules limit coaches to advising, and we coach research method, argument strategy, and revision to that standard. Teams that advance to the Top 64 can continue with our round-by-round coaching, offered separately.
