Economics Scholar - Foundations (14-Week Group Course)
14-week live online economics foundation course covering the core of AP Microeconomics and Macroeconomics for John Locke Essay Competition writing. Ages 11-14 meet Tuesdays, ages 14-17 Thursdays.
About this course
Economics Scholar Foundations teaches the economics a student needs to write a credible John Locke Economics essay. Across 14 weekly two-hour sessions (28 hours), students cover the core of AP Microeconomics and Macroeconomics - supply and demand, elasticity, market structures, market failure, GDP and inflation, fiscal and monetary policy, growth and trade - and learn to deploy each model as evidence in an argumentative essay, finishing with a graded mini-essay on a past John Locke Economics question. The course starts the week of October 5, 2026 (first classes Tuesday October 6 and Thursday October 8) and runs 14 weeks into early January 2027, finishing before the 2027 questions are released, and can be extended with John Locke Basics at a 20% bundle discount on the Basics track. The Tuesday section (ages 11-14) is reserved for students already shortlisted in a previous John Locke cycle; the Thursday section (ages 14-17) is open enrollment.

No, however we always encourage and support tournament attendance. Tournaments are a great way for students to apply their skills in a competitive environment.
