The Schola Mentorship - 10 Hour 1-on-1
One-on-one supervision of a humanities or social-science essay to the standard of The Schola, a quarterly journal for high school writers with rolling submissions. 10 flexible hours.
About this course
The Schola is a quarterly online journal that publishes essays in philosophy, politics, sociology, history, literature and public policy by high school students, with rolling submissions reviewed in two to three weeks. This 10-hour one-on-one mentorship takes an existing essay or a fresh question from diagnostic read to submission-ready manuscript: sharpening the thesis, testing the argument, sourcing and citing properly, and editing the prose to journal standard. Sessions are scheduled flexibly with a Writing Scholars tutor and hours are used within six months. The journal's $180 per-submission fee is paid by the family to The Schola directly, and acceptance is decided by the journal's editors and is never guaranteed.
