About the Program
Who this is for
Public Forum is the most popular debate format in the United States. Students learn the team-based 2v2 structure — constructives, crossfires, rebuttals, summaries, and final focus. A strong fit for students aiming at US college debate or who want exposure to a different format alongside World Schools.
Prerequisites
No prior PF experience required; team debate experience helpful.

Seven weeks, week by week
Each week is a self-contained module. Full-summer students continuously meet fresh material; week-by-week students can join at any point.
PF rules, team roles, and 2v2 strategy. First constructive speeches, partner coordination, and an introduction to American debate norms.

Team Coordination Drill
30 minPartner-sync exercises: dividing argument labor and signalling mid-round.

30 minWatch a recent NSDA Public Forum round; identify the moments where teamwork mattered.

Constructive Speech Workshop
1 hrBuild a four-minute opening case with two contentions and supporting evidence.
Partner Practice
30 minTrade constructives with a partner; coach gives line-by-line feedback.
Homework
30 minRefine and submit a written case for the week's motion.
Friday

Case Review
30 minLive revision based on overnight feedback.
First Team Round
1 hrRun a full PF round end-to-end against another team; coach adjudicates and flows.
Debrief
30 minRound post-mortem; identify the two highest-leverage improvements for next week.
