Lincoln Douglas Debate
Training in Dubai
Master the Art of Value-Based Argumentation
What is Lincoln Douglas Debate?
Lincoln Douglas Debate is a one-on-one debate format focused on values and philosophy. Named after the famous 1858 debates between Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas, this format emphasizes moral and ethical argumentation rather than policy.
Unlike team debate formats, LD requires students to stand alone and defend their philosophical positions through rigorous cross-examination. Students learn to construct value-based cases, engage with philosophical frameworks like Utilitarianism and Deontology, and defend positions on justice, morality, and individual rights.
This course prepares students for LD tournaments while developing critical thinking skills applicable far beyond debate—perfect for future lawyers, politicians, ethicists, and engaged citizens.
